I have crossed over — or dipped my foot — to a whole new way of storytelling that’s far from my text-based or article-heavy journalism usual.
A documentary I helped put together splashed me around as a ‘film producer’, and the newshounds picked it up.
Here’s one of them:
And there were more! News coverage of the film premiere includes the following:
- How John Gokongwei Jr. helped provide education to 1.5 million Filipinos | ABS-CBN News
- Buhay ni John Gokongwei Jr. sinariwa sa biography film | ABS-CBN News TV Patrol
- Committing to education for all | BusinessWorld
- A boy, a bicycle, and a legacy | Manila Bulletin
- Notes on the beat: Reliving John Gokongwei Jr.’s greatness | Philippine Star
- Why John Gokongwei Jr. Donated Half of His Wealth to a Foundation | Esquire
Actually, ‘showrunner,’ I learned, is a more appropriate title since I was the bridge between Troy Bernardo and his documentary team, and the Gokongweis, the subject of our obra.
Whatever.
I’m still giddy seeing my name in the end-credits of the documentary, which premiered on the big screen last week.
Days since, however, I’m just relieved I have one output down. Two more to go — a book and a podcast series — in this pioneering multimedia project.
Ok, Lala. Back to earth. Back to work.
