• Um, Yasay as next foreign secretary?

  

  I have an uneasy feeling about Yasay’s appointment as our chief diplomat. It seems none of his past experiences, including those I’ve interviewed him on as a business journalist, equipped him to handle foreign policy, especially with issues as sensitive as the sea dispute with China.

• Goodbye….

  

  Two were lost last weekend: Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao’s bout with Floyd Mayweather, and Evangeline Escobillo’s life. “Tita Vangie,” as I have called her after we have moved on from our source and reporter roles to being friends, was always full of life that it is hard to imagine she is no longer alive. I consider her one of my most memorable mentors, the kind who have contributed to the shaping of my career as a business journalist.
